Know and Obey All Range Rules

Firearm Safety Information for Our Guests

At Gun For Hire, safety is our foundation. Whether it’s your first time shooting or you’ve been on ranges for years,
these guidelines help ensure a safe, positive experience for everyone in our facility.

We are proud to operate a professionally supervised, family-friendly indoor range where education, awareness, and responsible handling always come first.

The 4 Universal Rules of Firearm Safety

These rules apply at all times — on the range, at home, and anywhere firearms are present.

1. Always Keep the Firearm Pointed in a Safe Direction

The muzzle should always be pointed downrange while inside the shooting area. Never allow the firearm to point at anything besides the paper target downrange.

2. Keep Your Finger Off the Trigger Until Ready to Shoot

Rest your finger straight along the frame of the firearm until your sights are on target and you have made the decision to fire.

3. Keep the Firearm Unloaded Until Ready to Use

Firearms should only be loaded at the firing line in the port and when you are prepared to shoot.

4. Be Sure of Your Target

Only shoot at approved range targets placed downrange in your assigned port.

Range Safety Practices

Our Range Safety Officers (RSOs) are present to guide and assist you at all times. Please comply with all instructions from the range staff and follow these important practices:

Safety Equipment

  • Proper eye and hearing protection must be worn at all times inside the range area.
  • Appropriate clothing must be worn inside the range at all times; no open-toe shoes and low-cut or cut-off shirts are to be worn inside the range.

Handling Firearms

  • If you are unsure about how your firearm operates, ask an RSO for assistance
  • No firearms are permitted in the Retail Area without being in a locked container.
  • Uncase firearms only at the shooting port
  • Keep actions open and firearms pointed downrange when not shooting
  • Only handle your firearm when in the port.
  • No fast or rapid firing allowed.

Malfunctions

If your firearm experiences a malfunction and you are unsure how to resolve it safely, keep it pointed downrange and notify an RSO immediately.

Cease Fire

If you hear “CEASE FIRE,” stop shooting immediately, remove your finger from the trigger, make the firearm safe, and await instructions.

Injury

Advise a Range Safety Officer (RSO) immediately of ANY injury that occurs during shooting.

Holster Draw

Wearing or drawing from a holster is only permitted for active law enforcement, Gun For Hire, LLC, and Woodland Park Range, LLC approved civilians who have passed a holster draw class and an efficiency test with a Gun For Hire, LLC or Woodland Park Range, LLC Range Safety Officer (RSO).
