Ammoland Interviews Anthony Colandro

Anthony Colandro Deserves Spot on NRA Board – Interview   Read more: Under Creative Commons License: Attribution Follow us: @Ammoland on Twitter | Ammoland on Facebook Now that Anthony Colandro's petiton drive has successfully placed his name on the 2019 Director Nominations ballot, it's up to NRA voting members who say they want reforms to show us how much. U.S.A. – -( Mail-in ballots have been sent out to voting members of the National Rifle Association (Annual Members for five consecutive years or Life Members). Per NRA: The 2019 election will fill the 25 three-year terms that expire in 2022 and two one-year terms that opened up due to resignations and that expire in 2020. Voting members will be asked to vote for a total of 27 candidates.  The 25 candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to three-year terms and the two receiving the next highest number of votes will each be elected to one-year terms. As a voting member, and as someone dissatisfied with several things about NRA actions and leadership, and especially with those Nominating Committee picks who have proven over the years to be rubber stamps, I limit my support to those few candidates who have satisfied me that they practice what they preach.  A questionnaire, a tool I have developed and used over the years, allows me to nail candidates down on their positions by eliciting unequivocal answers to specific questions. While it’s certainly possible that some will say anything to get elected, this creates a record that’s tough to make credible excuses for flip-flopping on. And it also helps to know something more about a candidate than what the brief ballot bio tells you, which can [...]

Time for Changes at National Rifle Association Read more: Under Creative Commons License: Attribution Follow us: @Ammoland on Twitter | Ammoland on Facebook USA – -( Bloomberg's propaganda mill The Trace, and Mother Jones magazine, have been working overtime together to investigate NRA's activities, digging up as much dirt as they can find, and doing their best to keep the media rumor mill abuzz with negative National Rifle Association news. Obviously both of these “news” outlets are extremely anti-rights and anti-NRA, and they are painting everything they can find in the worst possible light, but unfortunately, this is not “fake news.” The smoke our enemies have been pointing at is coming from real fires within the organization, and it's getting worse. The financial woes have prompted an austerity campaign on Waples Mill Road, laying off a number of employees, cutting back programs, and even doing away with coffee service for the staff. Meanwhile, the guy wielding the hatchet, and the rest of the NRA executive staff, are taking home exorbitant paychecks of a half-million to almost a million-and-a-half dollars a year, and crony parasites are sucking out tens of millions more, while the organization is operating millions of dollars in the red. The basic financial problems will probably be rectified in the short-term by the insatiable avarice of the new Democrat-controlled House of Representatives. Now that Nancy Pelosi and her anti-rights zealots have actively begun pushing new gun control legislation, Bob and Sally Gunowner will again be digging into their pockets to send in another twenty bucks to the NRA, and the organization's finances will soon appear to be back on reasonably solid ground. But the core problems won't go away so easily. An [...]

U.S. COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE THIRD CIRCUIT WANTS DO-OVER ARGUMENT ON MAG BAN APPEAL November 15, 2018. Even though counsel for both sides thoroughly argued the magazine ban appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit yesterday, in a highly unusual event the Court contacted counsel late yesterday and requested re-argument of the exact same appeal on Tuesday, November 20 at 10 AM in Philadelphia. There was apparently a problem with the official recording of yesterday's oral argument, and a new hearing is needed so it can be properly recorded. Gun owners are invited to attend the do-over oral argument before the Third Circuit. The address is: James A. Byrne United States Courthouse, 601 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106.   SUPPORT THE LAWSUIT CLICK HERE TO DONATE! Shooting range seeks to make guns ‘mainstream’

Click to watch video. As the gun control debate continues after the shooting in Las Vegas, Anthony Colandro at Gun for Hire in Woodland Park is looking for new customers. Yana Kolubelova had a choice to make. She had a day off from her nurse’s job at a New York hospital. So did three fellow nurses — two women and a man. What to do? Kolubelova, 23, of Brooklyn, considered driving with her friends to a winery on Long Island. But then, she embraced another destination: a single-story brick building just off Route 46 in Woodland Park, flanked by a car wash and an auto body shop, and across McBride Avenue from a gas station and a bank. A shooting range. Kolubelova and her friends spent several hours on a recent afternoon trying their hand — and trigger fingers — at firing a variety of guns, including an AR-15, the military-style rifle used by numerous mass shooters, among them Stephen Paddock, who killed nearly 60 people at an outdoor concert in Las Vegas last Sunday. “Today, it was either a vineyard or this,” Kolubelova said. “We picked this.” As the nation grapples with the thorny question of how, or whether, to effectively control the spread of firearms in the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, proponents of gun rights have been pressing forward with a subtle but meticulous campaign to make guns as much a part of everyday life as cars and cellphones. This campaign is plainly visible in state legislatures, where advocates are pushing for laws to allow private citizens to carry guns in malls and day care centers, on college campuses and in churches. But it is also [...]

Rachel Maddow, storyteller and gun lover

Rachel Maddow, storyteller and gun lover There's rarely any doubt where Rachel Maddow stands on an issue. She's a cable news headliner, and Rita Braver has been watching her in action ... both on the air, and off: "This is a beautiful gun." So maybe you wouldn't expect the woman wielding the Colt .45 pistol or the AR-15 rifle to be unabashedly left-leaning Rachel Maddow. "Like, I'm a real liberal, even on, like, gun safety and gun control issues," said Maddow. "That said, I think that shooting is fun, and I think that shooting ranges are an excellent place to both learn about guns and to freak your friends out!" Rachel Maddow with correspondent Rita Braver. Indeed, as the host of her own MSNBC show, Maddow delights in doing the unexpected. For example, she's credited as one of the first national journalists to spotlight the lead in drinking water crisis in Flint, Michigan -- a story about which she said "it is starting to become inconceivable that no one has been jailed or impeached or recalled from office." Spooling out the story, as she usually does, in a long, impassioned monologue... "The kids of Flint, Mich., have been poisoned by a policy decision." Her goal: To make you REALLY listen. "Storytelling is fun for me," she explained. "But I also think when you're telling a good story, it sinks in more. That's a more influential way to communicate information rather than just reading the news." "So those jeans ... what you're wearing underneath [the desk]?" "It's like a mullet: it's business upstairs, party downstairs." And of course, there's the fact that in 2008 she became the first openly-gay American to host a national news [...]
