What to Expect in Your Maryland, DC and New York Multi-State CCW Course

This is Gun for Hire’s exclusive Maryland Wear and Carry & Washington D.C. with NY CCW Add On CCPL class. This class is perfect for persons of all skill levels looking to carry a pistol for self defense within the state of Maryland and Washington D.C and New York. This is a eighteen (18) hour instructor led course held over 2 Days. This course will cover everything from basic firearm safety and storage, pistol and ammunition nomenclature, conflict management and de-escalation, conceal carry methods and mindset and much more. Students who complete this course will have satisfied the classroom training required by the state of Maryland, Washington D.C. and New York. Upon completion students will then be given instruction on the use of force and gun laws for the jurisdiction(s) which they choose to file for a carry permit. Students will then participate in the mandatory range training as well as the live fire qualifications for jurisdiction(s) for which they choose to apply for a carry permit.

NOTICE: NO live ammunition is allowed in the classroom this not only range policy but also Maryland State Law while teaching this class.

Qualification Details

  • There are no prerequisites to take this course. Minimum age is 21 years old.
  • This course is open to all people eligible to apply for a CCW permit.
  • The length of the course is 16 hours of classroom and 2 hours of range time. If both classes are being taken then the class time may be slightly longer.
  • The course will be given over 2 days with a 30 minute break each day for lunch. You will be responsible for providing your own lunch.
  • This course is held at Gun For Hire 1267 McBride Ave. Woodland Park, NJ 07424

Required Gear:

  • Day 1: An Open Mind
    • Pen/Paper to take notes
    • Laptop or iPad with a flash drive reader

  • Day 2:
    • Pistol (must be registered to you)
    • Concealment Holster
Must be strong side holster [IWB/AIWB/OWB are allowed] – no cross-draw, shoulder holsters, pocket holsters, sticky holsters, ankle holsters , or belly-band style holsters. You must draw from concealment, if carrying OWB, your shirt must cover the firearm.
    • Two magazines (must be NJ compliant)
    • Factory ammunition
    • NY – 5 rounds needed
    • MD – 25 rounds needed
    • DC – 50 rounds needed
    • If you are qualifying for multiple states, please make sure to bring the proper ammo count.
    • 10 Snap Caps
    • Pen/Paper to take notes
    • Laptop or iPad with a flash drive reader
    • Sturdy belt
    • Ear Protection
    • Wrap-around eye protection. Side shields will be provided and are mandatory for those who do not bring wrap-around eye protection. Brimmed hats are strongly recommended.
    • Jeans or BDU style pants. No Sweatpants, No shorts, No open-toed shoes.

Please arrive 15 minutes early. If you are late, you must sign up for another available course date and will be charged for a new qualification.

Reschedule or Cancel Less Than 24 Hours Before Your Course:
Receive a 50% credit of your purchase price in your Gun For Hire account, which may be applied toward a future date.
This reduction is due to staffing, scheduling, and course preparation already completed.

No-Show Policy:
If no cancellation is provided, no credit or refund is available.

Rescheduling Policy More Than 24 Hours Before Your Course:
A $25 fee will apply if you need to change your date.
