NRA Instructor Courses
NRA Basic Instructor Training
The NRA Basic Instructor Training opens with an exercise on “How to Introduce a Speaker” designed as an icebreaker. You’re paired with another Instructor Candidate, spend a few minutes exchanging information, and then introduce each other to the class. Immediately you start learning how to talk on your feet while we teach you how to offer useful praise and constructive suggestions. You’re teaching. We help you conquer shyness and develop a communications bridge with a group of people who depend on you for positive instruction. Our classes establish an atmosphere in which your fellow students assist us in helping you succeed. Step by step we guide you through five key lessons that help you learn essential methods of conducting a formal NRA class in the use of firearms. NRA Basic Instructor Training concludes with “Preparing to Teach” and the trainer’s examination.
At that point you should be ready for whichever discipline-specific instructor training class comes next for you: Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, depending on your qualifications and enrollment. To make most efficient use of the day on which we hold this six hour class, we continue on to common elements of the discipline-specific courses (NRA Basic Pistol Instructor, NRA Basic Rifle Instructor, NRA Basic Shotgun Instructor, and NRA Personal Protection Instructor) for students who have registered in advance to go beyond NRA Basic Instructor Training into one or more NRA discipline-specific class. Or you can stop with the Basic Instructor Training class. (You are not considered an NRA Certified Instructor until you complete the discipline-specific class and the NRA Training Department processes your application and issues instructor credentials.)
You must have certification of completion for at least one of the NRA basic student classes: Pistol, Rifle and or Shotgun.

“He engages the class well and keeps everyone involved.”
Last night I attended the Basic Pistol class with Tony. Even though this class is geared for beginning shooters and I have been a gun owner since 1983, the class was very informative and I learned a lot. Tony has a great teaching style that made learning a serious topic fun and easy to understand. He engages the class well and keeps everyone involved. During the live fire session Anthony worked with me and helped me overcome some bad habits I’ve developed over the years and he also has a nice approach to teaching firearms safety and handling. I also observed both Anthony and Tony taking first-time shooters from nervous first trigger pulls to consistent groupings. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. Last week I also took the UT & FL non-resident CCW courses. He also has a great presentation style and managed to get a room full of applicants trained and processed promptly. Your Gun For Hire facility is also first class. It’s clean and welcoming. Most indoor ranges I’ve been to are dark and not user-friendly. GFH stands head and shoulders above the competition. Thanks again for offering this opportunity to the public to increase firearms safety and skills. I look forward to another class soon.
“The minute I walked in we were greeted and welcomed like family.”
“The minute I walked in we were greeted and welcomed like family. I never thought businesses did that anymore it was truly refreshing for my son and I to experience that type of environment. Even the owner came over and welcomed us to the family. We’re new gun owners and didn’t know much about what we bought. I was a bit embarrassed but that was put to rest the minute we met the instructors. Not only did these guys know there stuff they knew how to deliver it to the entire class. I am truly fortunate we began at Gun For Hire. Next up Holster draw! Anthony please feel free to use this on your site or email” – Sincerely John & Sebastian
I wanted to thank you and Luann again for a fantastic training program. I really enjoyed it and I learned a ton of great information. I’ll do my best to make you guys proud as an instructor. If you ever need any assistance with any training moving forward don’t hesitate to reach out. Have a safe trip down to Florida.
